      1. Is it the Truth?

       2. Is it Fair to all concerned?

       3. Will it build Goodwill & Better Friendship?

Westbrook Together Days will be held on May 29-30 this year. Julie Hamm and Christine Johnson are exploring opportunities for Westbrook-Gorham Rotary to participate this year.  Please contact them with your ideas, or speak with them at our next meeting.

Westbrook Together Days is a 2-day festival that is fun for families and residents of all ages.  The event is held on Friday from 5 PM – 10 PM and all day on Saturday from 8 AM – 10 PM.  Saturday begins with a 5k run/kid’s 1/2 mile fun run and concludes with a 30 minute firework display.  This event typically attracts 15-20,000 people and this year is Westbrook’s 36th annual Together Days event.

This is a city wide event that several businesses and citizens volunteer their time and money to make it the success that it has become.  In 2010, Westbrook Together Days was awarded the Spirit of America Award for volunteerism in Maine and continues to bring pride and continuity to the community.

Our annual road race for local high school boys and girls will be held on Monday April 20. Owens McCullough and Dave Rolfe have been hard at work behind the scenes and will be asking for help this week. Letters have been sent to area coaches and the request has been made for public safety support.

Volunteers should plan to arrive by 9AM.  We'll need help checking in the runners, handing out numbers, recording the order of finish, and supplying water, among other activities.  The race starts at 10AM.

We hope to see everyone there to cheer on the runners!

RYLA candidate selection is well underway in both Westbrook and Gorham. We hope to select 2-3 students per school to participate in this wonderful program that will be held at Camp Hinds June 21-24.

Westbrook applications have been returned and interviews will be conducted at WRVC on Wednesday March 15.  Steve Rand and Hal Thomas will be conducting these interviews, but would like at least one more member to participate.  Please contact Hal if you can help (hthomas1@maine.rr.com).

Gorham applications were due back by the end of last week. Interviews will be conducted during the week of April 27th.  Jason Beever and Paul Emery will be conducting these interviews, and would also like at least one more member to participate.  Please contact Jason if you would like to help (jbeever@chalmersinsurancegroup.com).
