Let’s help get socks on those little feet before the cold weather really hits.

New Major Donor Henry Saunders
Henry Saunders of Saunders Brothers in Westbrook has been a member of Rotary Club of Westbrook-Gorham for over 50 years. Henry has made several donations to the Rotary Foundation during those years to honor his late wife Marjorie, his father, his brother and his partner Karen Marie O’Reilly with Paul Harris Fellows.
Henry remembers the fear of contracting polio as he was growing up. He has often recalled a classmate who was afflicted with the disease. Since the late 1980s, Rotary has been focusing on fighting polio, and Henry has strongly supported that effort. As Rotary moves closer to finally eradicating polio from the world, Henry is interested in Rotary focusing on the next big challenge – Peace.

This year, with encouragement from our President Bill Chadwick and our Foundation Chair Steve Rand, Henry has become a major donor. That means that Henry, in his name alone, has donated at least $10,000 to the Rotary Foundation.

We are grateful to Henry for his support of our Club and of the Rotary Foundation.

President Bill Chadwick

Scott Linscott - Photographer Extraordinaire
Donald Wescott Linscott, known to us as Scott, grew up in Auburn ME and graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in Photo Journalism. He continued his studies at USM in Color Photography. He met his wife Robin, a Massachusetts girl, at UMaine and they married in 1984.

While at Orono, he was Editor of the campus newspaper.  However, in the process of chasing a story, he had an epiphany – he could not be a hard news journalist nor did he want to be a feature writer. Photography was to be his career.

In 2011, he learned that he needed a liver transplant. A year later, his son had given him 60% of his liver.  Unfortunately, that year-long medical journey led to the loss of their house, savings, and retirement savings. Still, Scott tells us that his still has everything because he has his family. As a result of his experience, he is a strong supporter of Donate Life New England.

In addition to being a professional photographer, Scott leads FBC Westbrook.  He loves that job, but doesn’t love the title “pastor” or “reverend”. By design, the church is relaxed and contemporary. Since he joined the church, they have grown from about 30 members to over 150 members, including young families.

His philosophy is that every day is a gift and every day is a bonus day. His study of Jesus Christ has led him to his avocation – life coaching. He loves to be part of the solution and to serve others. One of his favorite quotes is: “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” – Mahatma Gandhi.

Scott lives in Westbrook with his wife Robin and his dog Pompom.  They have three adult children and three grandchildren with one on the way.

Scott signs a book for the Walker Library
