Thanks to Chef Limoggio and Student of WRVC
A huge thanks again this year to Chef Charles Limoggio and the Students of the WRVC Culinary Arts Program. Our final meal this school year was extra special with three entree options (including a carved roast), salad, and pie. We appreciate all you do and can't wait to return in the fall.

It is disappointing to report that two students from Bonny Eagle could not be there due to the vandalism at their school.  With their school canceled, they could not attend WRVC that day.   Our thanks go out to them as well for a great year!!

Ranked Choice Voting Proposed for Maine
Rotary Clubs across Maine are opening their doors to former State Senator Dick Woodbury for presentations on Ranked Choice Voting; what it is, and why it matters. Last year, 73,000 Mainers signed petitions to place a nonpartisan citizen initiative for Ranked Choice Voting on the November 2016 ballot. If enacted by voters this fall, Ranked Choice Voting would be used to elect Maine’s Governor, U.S. Senators, U.S Representatives, State Senators and State Representatives beginning with the 2018 election.

Senator Woodbury noted the current lack of civility among candidates, a divisiveness that carries over into governing. He believes that ranked choice voting has the potential to improve the dynamics of voting in three areas: 1) lets voters vote for their preferred candidate vs strategic voting 2) avoids having a winner win with less than majority vote and 3) lets candidates and voters focus on policies and positions rather than "viability" of the candidate.  He also believes that this could reduce negativity in campaigning and possibly lead to more candidates stepping forward.

Ranked choice voting is currently being used in cities like Oakland, Cambridge, Minneapolis and Portland ME.  If approved by Maine voters, it would be the first statewide use of this voting process.

Application for Membership – Jessie Jamison
Second Publication
Jessie Jamison is Marketing Coordinator at Sebago Technics.  She lives in Saco and works in South Portland. She holds a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and minor in Information Technology from the University of New Hampshire, 2014.

She has previously worked as a Marketing Intern at S.W. Cole Engineering, Inc. and as a Figure Skating Instructor at Tri-Town Ice Arena in Hooksett, NH.

Jessie has been a competitive figure skater for 21 years.  She writes that she “was basically born a figure skater because my mom was Snow White in Disney on Ice, and my dad was Big Bird in Ice Follies”.  She has passed her Senior Moves in the Field test, which is the highest skill level in US Figure Skating.  She was a member of the UNH Synchronized Skating Team for 4 years and is now a member of the Adult Synchronized Skating team which practices in Acton, Massachusetts. This team consists mostly of UNH alumni and is coached by the same coach as the UNH team. They travel all around country for competitions and recently placed 3rd at the National Synchronized Skating Championships in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where the top 12 teams around the country had to qualify to compete, their best score to date!!

Jessie has already been of service to Westbrook-Gorham Rotary by designing our 2015 Golf Classic brochure, our current club brochure, the logo for our 90th Anniversary celebration, and making a huge contribution to the slide show used at our 90th Anniversary Celebration dinner in March. She also volunteered during our 2015 Road Race and has attended several meetings.

Jessie is sponsored by Judith Reidman.  The Board will vote on her application at our June 7 meeting.
