The Rotary Foundation Disaster Relief Fund
 
 
In response to the deepening humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, Rotarians around the world have been taking action and raising funds.
 
 
 
Our sister club in Romania - Rotary Club Oradea Art Nouveau - is working directly with Ukrainian refugees in their area and providing help to the work of Rotary Clubs in Ukraine.   Projects they are leading or supporting include:
 
  • Providing housing for orphans and supplying them with food, clothing, and the services of a psychologist
  • Supporting mothers with their children who are now in Oradea with food, clothing, and programs
  • Purchasing warm blankets from a local manufacturer and providing them to hospitals via Rotary Clubs in Ukraine.
 
Thanks to you, we were able to send $1650 to our sister club, the Rotary Club Oradea Art Nouveau, on March 29, 2022. Your support is much appreciated!!
 
 
Westbrook-Gorham Rotary has successfully partnered with the Rotary Club Oradea Art Nouveau on Education & Literacy projects in a rural Romanian school not too far from Oradea.  As a result of this work and our mutual interest in fostering international understanding, we recently signed an International Matched Club Agreement. In part, this agreement calls for us to "Coordinate and Cooperate with each other regarding projects and/or activities of mutual interest".  See the complete text of the agreement here: Agreement 2022
 
There is still time to donate to help Ukrainians through The Rotary Foundation. The Disaster Response Fund has been designated as the main avenue for contributions which will be used by Rotary Districts in that region who submit their project for grant funding.   All funds donated to this Disaster Response Fund through April 30, 2022 will be designated  for Ukrainian relief grants. These expedited disaster response grants can be used to provide relief to refugees or other victims of the crisis including items such as water, food, shelter, medicine and clothing.
