Judith Reidman reported on the current House Project. She hopes it will be finished this school year. However, the kids only have 2 hours per day to work, including bus travel time. She noted that the location at the end of Declaration Dr is a short walk from the Presumpscot River with a nice path along the property. It has a daylight basement and will be approx. 1200 sq ft, a bit smaller than our most recent houses.
Kathi Perkins spoke about a District initiative to restart Youth Exchange in District 7780 through a summer program next year. This is a 6 to 8-week program that needs host families for sending and receiving. The kids get to spend the whole summer together and each family hosts for half of the exchange period. If you know of any high school student who may be interested, go to the Essex website to find an application http://www.exchangestudent.org/ Essex is a company that District 7780 uses for background checks and Visas. A letter announcing this program should be going out to all Interact leaders soon.
Scott Linscott has agreed to chair our Public Relations and Kathi Perkins has agreed to be our alternate Club Protection Office and Vice President. Thanks to both of these members for offering their talents to our club.
