On July 11, our annual lobster bake was held on beautiful Sebago lake at the summer home of Henry Saunders and Karen Reilly.  Dan Willett and former WG Rotary member Walt Stinson cooked the lobsters, corn and potatoes, with assistance from Ellen Stinson and Julie Carmichael.  Bill Chadwick manned the grill for those of us who prefer “turf” over “surf”.  Nelson Harmon transported the lobsters and members brought salads, appetizers, beverages and desserts to complete the meal. The weather cooperated to provide another wonderful evening.

A great addition this year was a hot dog steamer used to raise additional funds for polio eradication.  We are pleased to report that $68 dollars was raised and immediately sent to the Foundation towards the push to finally eradicate polio.

Prior to the meal, we were treated to the musical talents of Woody Beach.  Woody came in full Scottish regalia and played his bagpipes as the American flag was raised over Long Point. After the flag was raised, he treated the group to additional tunes as final dinner preparations were made.

This year was made more special by the 50th anniversary of two of our members. Both Nelson Harmon and Henry Saunders recently reached the 50-year milestone in Rotary.  Their dedication to Rotary is an inspiration to us all. Each received a rosewood box with engraved plague acknowledging this amazing milestone of Service Above Self.

As is our custom, we ended the evening with a sing-along enjoying views of Sebago Lake and the White Mountains.  A good time was had by all.

There is a lot of work behind the scenes to make the location ready and to source and prepare the food. Thanks to all who made this wonderful evening possible: Walt and Ellen Stinson, Dan Willett, Julie Carmichael, Nelson Harmon, Wayne Lopez, Bill Chadwick, and Phil Spiller.

See you next year!
