Polio Plus - We were sad to learn that Pakistan has identified two cases of wild polio virus so far in 2018, dashing hopes that the world would be polio free in 2018.

Foundation Giving & Rotary Direct – We are doing well towards our Foundation giving goal for the 2017-2018 Rotary year. Thanks to all members who have donated to date.   Also, a big thanks to our 11 members who participate in Rotary Direct. Rotary Direct is a painless way to give which deducts the amount you choose monthly, quarterly or annually using a debit or credit card. If you would like to learn more, contact Steve Rand.

Tree Sales – 2017 was a truly amazing sales year. Net proceeds exceeded 2016 by over $1500.  A huge thanks to all who worked on various aspects of the sale. Special thanks to Mike Foley for creating and managing the point-of-sale tool and the on-line scheduling.

Project and volunteer hours – President Bill told us that volunteer hours to date are being compiled by project leaders to be reported via Rotary Club Central.  To qualify for this year’s Governor’s award or President’s Citation, volunteer hours and funds raised need to be reported in this database. Project leaders for large Rotary events like tree sales and golf tournament will estimate hours.  If you have worked on any project where you represented Rotary, please provide the name of that project and hours to Bill Chadwick. Also, if you worked hours that you believe the project lead is not aware of, please report that time to the project lead (Golf Tournament Ethan Johnson, Tree sales Mike Foley, House Project Judith Reidman, Literacy Project Christine Johnson).

House – Judith Reidman reported that the house foundation has been poured and to be back-filled during the week of February 12. House #47 is being constructed at the end of Declaration Dr.

Membership – The bulk of the assembly was spent on the topic of membership. President Bill Chadwick provided some guidance for member recruitment. He spoke about circles of influence – family, friends, associates and finally strangers. All provide an opportunity to share your Rotary experience, the fun we have, the projects we work on. The path to recruitment starts with building relationships.  Listen to what they have to say - what are their passions and interests. Next tell our story – invite people to participate in a project or attend a meeting. Finally, help them see how they can contribute - the value they can add, their place on the team - and ask them to join us.
