• Leadership Opportunity: We need a Sergeant-at-Arms for the upcoming year.  This should be someone who can attend meetings frequently, although this position can be shared with a friend! If interested, please contact Deb Shangraw.
 
  • Four new members: The Board Approved four new members at the Board meeting on June 5: Steve Sloan, Ariana Bailey, Joyce Heaton and Mody Botros.  Welcome to all!
  • Foundation Giving: Our club’s giving to the Rotary Foundation has been strong so far in the 2017-2018 Rotary year.  There is still time to donate and receive the club match up to $100 in your name. Here is an opportunity to move closer to that next Paul Harris Fellow giving level. Please donate on line or hand your check made out to Rotary Foundation to Steve Rand by June 19th.
  • Polio Plus: Canisters will be emptied after the June 19th meeting so proceeds can be sent to RI before the end of this Rotary year.
  • Donations: Recent donations approved by the Board include $1000 to My Place Teen Center, $500 to Gorham Food Pantry, $500 to Stroudwater Food Pantry, and $500 to The Locker Project
  • Reading Programs: The Gorham Reading Friends Program and the Westbrook Read With Me Program have concluded for this school year.  There were 3 volunteer readers in Gorham and 2 in Westbrook. We hope to continue with both programs in the 2018-2019 school year. Look for more information in September on how you can participate.
  • Lobster Bake:  The annual Lobster bake at the home of Henry Saunders will be July 10 starting about 5PM. Sign up at an upcoming meeting. Always a great opportunity for fellowship.
  • US Map: We hope to paint a US Map on the playground at Narragansett School in Gorham over the summer.  Date is TBD. Rotary will buy the paint and all supplies. We hope that this will be a joint project among WG Rotary, Gorham Interact and Volunteers from the Narraganset School. Watch the Scribbler for more details
  • Golf Tournament: Date has been set for September 18. Brochures will be available shortly. Its time to start soliciting sponsors.
  • Presidential Citation: Our club is on track for receiving the Rotary International Presidential Citation for the 2017-2018 Rotary year. Thanks to all members for your efforts on various fundraisers and service projects over the year that have made this possible.
  • Lyric Theater: AG Tony Wagner reported that the Falmouth Club needs some help for a work detail at Lyric Theater on Saturday morning June 23rd. 176 Sawyer St, South Portland.
