* A huge thanks to everyone who donated to the Rotary Foundation during the 2017-2018 Rotary year.  Assistant Governor Tony Wagner presented a recognition banner to Westbrook-Gorham Rotary for being number 2 in per capita Annual Fund giving in District 7780 last year.

* Ethan Johnson stopped by briefly to present a $2000 check from the Gorham Business Exchange. These are funds we helped raise at the Cornhole Invitational in October.  We cannot thank Ethan and the Gorham Business Exchange enough for bringing us in as their partner this year.  A fun event!

* Carlo Giraulo reminded us about the Toys for Tots box located at his office at 543 Main St, Westbrook.  Donations are being accepted through this Friday.

* Christine read a thank you card from Kelli Deveaux, Principal of Westbrook HS.  She thanked our club for graciously sharing our meeting space on October 23 when the Maine Supreme Court Justices were visiting the school. It was a rare opportunity for the students to dine and chat with the justices.

* Kathi Perkins reported that she has communicated with Kate Stevens in Guidance at Gorham High School and with Kelli Deveaux Principal of WHS regarding the planned summer youth exchange short program.  Kathi mentioned that both are interested and excited about this opportunity for their students.

* Bruce Dyer, Westbrook Interact Adviser, was joined by Interact Members Emma Ranco, Avery Tucker and President Kimmie Goddard. These three students participated in the Rotary UN Day Interact trip back in November.  They departed from Maine at 6:30AM on Friday Nov 9 and left NYC late on Saturday Nov 10. Truly a whirlwind trip. A total of 40 District 7780 students were on the trip.

Their first stop was the UN Building.  They were impressed by the architecture of the building, the artwork from many different countries, and the people from all over the world. They learned that the UN strives to bring people together to avoid conflict, advance social and economic development, and discuss global issues like the environment.  While in NYC they spent some time as tourists in Times Square, ate at Bubba Gump’s where they were instructed to sit with someone from the group that they didn’t know, toured the Empire State building with its amazing views, and saw a Broadway show (School of Rock) which they called an amazing show. The also went to the Hard Rock Café for lunch where they saw an auction of some Michael Jackson memorabilia.  They were very grateful for our help in financing this learning experience.
